Before You Begin

Using unofficial, non-genuine, cracked, or non-activated Windows versions is not supported and can cause unexpected startup errors or licensing problems.

All OBDSync software is not supported in virtual machines or emulated environments. Attempting to do so will result in instant license termination without refund or compensation.

Software Licensing

Licensing varies between products. Check the product page to see which licensing system applies, then review the relevant section below.

OBDSync may use any of the following systems:

Token Licensing

Per vehicle, per module

Time-Based Subscription

Renewed on a schedule

Scantool-Based

Linked to an OBDSync scantool

Combination

A mix of any of the above

License portability. All licensing systems allow you to migrate licenses between computers or phones — your license is linked to your account or scantool, not the PC or smartphone.

Token-Based Licensing

Software tokens can only be used once to register or license the requested module. No refunds or replacement tokens are supplied if a customer changes their mind or licenses the wrong item.

Token cost and the required number of tokens per module/item can change without prior notice at any time (for example, during promotions).

Tokens are not exchangeable or transferable between accounts and can only be used for OBDSync software.

Module & Vehicle Scope

Token-based licensing applies to the specific module installed in a specific vehicle. A license issued for one module covers only that exact module while it remains fitted to that exact vehicle. It does not provide unlimited replacements for the same vehicle or vehicle type.

  • If the licensed module is replaced, the replacement module must also be separately licensed for that vehicle.
  • If the licensed module is moved to a different vehicle, it must be licensed again for that new vehicle.

Internet Access & License Terminations

All licenses can be revoked and terminated without refund and without prior acknowledgement if the end user’s usage does not comply with our terms and conditions (hacking, cracking, tampering, etc.).

All OBDSync applications automatically alert us to any attempt to tamper with tokens, subscriptions, or any part of the application. Tampering will result in immediate license termination without refund, and may result in blacklisting or banning the scantool’s unique signature from being used with any future OBDSync products or systems.

Internet access is required. All OBDSync software requires internet access for registration and ongoing use. There is no offline activation option. Internet access is used for verifying license details and applying software changes — without it, the application will not run.
